Psychotherapy
Long term Psychotherapy is a useful intervention for people with various conditions including trauma, anxiety, addictions and depression. Most Psychotherapy is provided by Clinical Psychologists under a Mental Health Care Plan.
Our Psychiatrist’s are open to a shared care approach with therapists. Dr Burchgart also provides regular Psychotherapy to a limited number of patients.
Medications
The treatment of mental illness with medication is a core part of Psychiatry and the most common intervention. Our Psychiatrist’s prescribe medications based on evidence-based guidelines and treatment guidelines from the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrist’s.
Dr Burchgart and Dr Dall are approved for s8 medication prescription, including Suboxone, in NSW and Queensland. They will routinely check Q-Script and Safe Script NSW databases when prescribing regulated medication.
Peace of Mind Psychiatry uses eScript technology for prescriptions. Prescriptions will only be provided within an appointment. eScripts are sent to your nominated email address and receipt needs to be confirmed prior to departing from each appointment.
Telehealth
Telehealth is available for follow up appointments. For some Initial Assessments, Telehealth may not be suitable.
There have been several changes to how doctors can use Telehealth over the last 12 months. Telehealth appointments longer than 30 minutes are now required by Medicare to be via Videoconference.
For those in rural, remote or flood affected areas where internet connection is poor, then Telehealth by phone for long appointments is still permitted.
Medico-Legal Reports
Psychiatrist’s are often asked to provide reports and certificates for patients. Some of these forms need to be done within an appointment including; Centrelink Certificates and Medical Certificates. Applications for DSP and NDIS often need to be done over several appointments.
Not all requests for reports will be accepted. NDIS and DSP applications are only considered for patients who have been a regular patient of our practice for more than 6 months.
Some Medico-Legal reports such as Court Reports or Treating Specialist Reports attract a private fee and require significant time to prepare. Court reports will not be provided for new patients to the clinic and will only be considered for long-term patients.
Please contact [email protected] for more information on Medico-Legal reports and associated fees.
